FAQs

To join mobo as a School Leaver seeking employment (for both Employment Services and Support pathways) you must be;

  • In your final 12 months of secondary education (year 12, or prior with formal permission from the school),
  • Younger than 22 years of age,
  • Live with a disability, illness, injury or health condition, and/or have a current NDIS Plan,
  • Be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident,
  • Not currently be employed for more than 12 hours per week, and
  • Have the capacity, with intervention, to work for at least 12 hours per week.

While much of the supports in both pathways are very similar, the primary difference between the program is the result achieved for the client.

For NDIS Participants (School Leaver Employment Supports – SLES), once you’re in a place ready to advance into employment, you can choose to be placed at one of our existing Enterprises, or those from another provider. You will join the hundreds of other Employees with NDIS Plans employed through mobo.

For more information, check out the Employment Supports for NDIS Participants here.

For the pathway to Open Employment (Eligible School Leavers – ESL), on completion of your time in the ESL program, you’ll transfer into the Employment Services Program for Jobseekers looking for employment in the open market.

The total length of the School Leaver’s Employment Program (for both NDIS Participants and Jobseekers) is 2 years.

After completing those two years, you can seamlessly transfer into either Employment Supports  for NDIS Participants, or Inclusive Employment Services for Jobseekers.

However, you must be no older than 22 years old when entering the program, to get the most out of it, we recommend joining before or around your 20th birthday.

You can transfer from the School Leaver Employment Program and into either of the Employment Services, or Employment Supports Paths.

You don’t have to stay in the same program for the full duration of it if we agree that you are ready to begin your employment journey.

Like Employment Support for Employees with NDIS Plans. Funding for School Leaver Employment Support (SLES) is claimed on a fortnightly basis, we’ll co-ordinate claiming the funding as needed to provide the supports you require. The amount depends on the intensity and frequency of supports needed and is unique to every individual.

Whether you are self, plan or agency managed, as your employment provider we will coordinate with yourself or your representative to reserve and claim the funding amount from your plan.

We update our NDIS funding arrangements annually, ensuring that you always get the best possible price for the services you need. You can find the latest NDIS Price Arrangements and Limits here.

Absolutely, having family input is helpful, plus, having another trusted person present may help the client feel more able to express their views and speak more freely.

Yes, absolutely! Once you’ve spent some time working with the moboEmployment Services team, we’ll happily become a referee who can advocate your attributes and potential to prospective employers.

Getting started

Not sure where to start?

When choosing an Employment Pathways Provider as a School Leaver, some things you should consider include;

1

Is mobo right for me?

Can mobo offer me the support I need to prosper in employment? What kind of employment am I looking for?

2

Is a moboSite near me?

Am I nearby an Employment Services Office or Enterprise? There are multiple locations across metropolitan and regional South Australia.

3

Do I have funding?

Is School Leaver Employment Supports included in my plan? Can I get it added to my plan?

4

Willing to participate?

Building up to meaningful employment requires time and effort, am I willing to actively participate in my employment journey?
